Identifying Your Body Shape
“Everything looks good on you because you are skinny.”
Insert GIANT eye roll.
I’m not “skinny”, I’m not a size zero, or even a two or four. I’m usually a solid size 8. Sometimes a ten, especially after extra quarantine cookies and drinking.
Not everything looks good on me. I choose what I am going to wear, photograph, and post based on what looks good on my body shape. Truth be told, I’m not going to show you what looks unflattering on me – I’m just not that brave. Maybe one of these days…
How you look in your clothes has nothing to do if you are fat, skinny, short, tall, curvy, or less than curvy.
It has EVERYTHING to do with fitting the shape of your body.
Do you know what your body shape is?
Have you ever taken your measurements?
If you think you know your shape, but have never taken your measurements I want to you to give it a try. You might be surprised, you might not be the shape you thought you were.
When you are doing your measuring make sure you are measuring in your undies, with a good fitting bra.
You want to make sure you get the following measurements:
Bust: The fullest part of your bust, all the way around
Waist: The smallest part of your waist, just above the belly button
High Hip: The upper part of the hip (see photo)
Hip: The largest part of the hip including your buttocks
These videos are a great tutorial on how exactly to find these measurements
After you have all of your measurements down, enter them into this calculator and it will calculate you body shape.
Were you surprised? Or did you already know your body shape?
The next few weeks we are going to be diving into dressing different body shapes.
