Dress The Way You Want To Feel

by | Nov 5, 2020

I was getting dressed the other day and the jeans I put on were tight, uncomfortably tight.  Like a lot of people, I’ve gained a little weight in the past several months and it’s frustrating. I took off the jeans and put on a pair of sweatpants.  They were old and gross and didn’t make me feel any better, except maybe a little less restricted.

I had already started my day berating myself for packing on those few extra stress pounds, and then for looking dumpy. I knew that to get through my content creation for the day I needed to put myself in something that made me feel good about myself. It got me thinking, we all have a different idea of what is cute, chic, what makes us feel confident, sexy, powerful.

What was that for me?

What image did I want to embody today that made me feel like that chic, put together, work from home business owner?

I headed to my dear friend Pinterest, and did a search for what I thought was the effortless style I needed for the day.

These were the two that really resonated with me.  And then I went about recreating my version of this look.

This is what I came up with.  I felt put together, but not restricted.  And the outfit gave me the motivation I needed to get through my content creation for the day.

Not everyone has the time to scan Pinterest every morning before they go to work.  Which is why I think it’s important to spend some of your downtime creating a Pinterest board of looks that you can recreate that are going to give you the “feeling” you want to have when you get dressed.

It’s important to take pictures of outfits you look and feel amazing in, keep them in a file on your phone and on those days that you are lacking inspiration or feeling frustrated, scroll through those pictures and find an outfit you forgot about.

Now would this outfit make me feel confident giving a presentation?  Absolutely not, but for the day, it made me look and feel confident enough to get my content creation done for the day.
